Whаt аrе thе side effects?
Whаt іѕ thе whole process?
Whісh one wουƖԁ bе better? Reversable οr non versable?
Whаt іѕ thе recovery period?
Aftеr surgery hοw long wіƖƖ I bе іn thе hospital?

I took my adult disabled son to get his almost 5 years ago. It was done in the Dr.’s office (Urologist) and then I took him home. You need ice packs when you get home…to keep the swelling down.
here is a link for you also
My husband had it done a few years ago.
They use a local to numb the area, then make 2 small cuts in the skin of the scrotum. The tubes are tied off and cut, and the 2 small wounds are stitched or glued. The whole thing took about 15 minutes, he rested for 1/2 hour or so, then I drove him home. He was a little tender and bruised in that area for a few days, but he only needed one day off work. The stitches dissolved after about a week.
It can take about 12 weeks for existing sperm to be washed out. Normally you give 2 samples 4 weeks apart and if both contain zero sperm then the op is considered a success.
All vasectomies are considered non-reversable, although sometimes reversal is possible, there is no guarantee of success. It’s best to only have it done if you are certain you will not want it reversed, as you may well be disappointed.
My ex-husband had it done after we were done having children. It is done in the Dr.s office. They numb you and then make a tiny incision. You will go home when it’s over, they tell you to take tylenol and use an ice pack for a couple of days. There is some minor swelling and pain but nothing major. I don’t think there is such a thing as reversible or non-reversible, unless it’s something new. It is possible to reverse it in the future, but it’s not guaranteed! As far as your sex life afterwards, it’s exactly the same except there are no microsopic sperm in the ejaculatory fluid. It takes about six weeks before the fluid is clear of sperm, so you will need to take birth-control precautions until then. Good Luck!
I had one done in a family doctor’s office. Knowing what I do now, I would decide to use a specialist instead. Go to someone who does it regularly.
Whatever they tell you it will take to recover -double it.
I’ve never regretted it. Good Luck.
it hurt me more than they described, and took me 3 times longer to heal, ice is your best friend,
I had it done first of the year, I went to the urologist for a preop and urine sample and the dr explanined everything the new thing now is called “no scapel” which is were they make 2 small incisions in your scrotum and placed a metal clamp around the tube that carries the sperm.(dont worry the clamp wont set off metal detectors) The only side effect is ocassionally the sperm will build up and become a sore bump that can be taken care of with antibotics. I had no side effects with mine. It can be reversed but is considered perminent. when i went in for the procedure they gave me an iv and versed so I knew what was happening but really didn’t care the procedure took 15-20 min and went home 30 min later and they gave me px pills a bit sore the first day or two but nothing the meds wouldn’t take care of. You should be prepared to take it easy for 2 days with no heavy lifting for 5 days, but the day after i was able to walk around and go to the store, also a bit black an blue for the first week, no ejaculation for 1 week (that was the worst part) after the week you are to ejaculate 15 times within 2 weeks then take in a sample wait 2 more weeks take in another sample and if both have a negative count you are clear to go without protection, Sex is exactly the same afterwards I cant tell a difference and would not hesitate to do it again. Also insurance will pay for the procedure
There are so many “urban legends” about vasectomies. It is hard to get advice with all the “crap” out there. Often people make stuff up to scare you. The “urban legends” are just ask valid as “bigfoot”.
There are no side effects of any kind, and no scar.
I went to the clinic on a Friday afternoon. The nurse shaved me. They gave me a local pain killer, and completed the sugary in about 15 min. I sat around for about another 15 min, then drive myself to Walgreen’s for the anti-biotic (I didn’t bother with the pain-killer). Then went to blockbuster, and then home. I sat around for two days watching movies. I was back to work on Monday (desk job).
Reversible vasectomies are a farce. They should be called, “Self reversing”. High tech methods lead to longer times to heal, and unexpected pregnancy. The only vasectomy that is truly effective is the “traditional” vasectomy that has been around for 100 years.
Reversal surgery is seldom successful (about 30%), cost about 10 grand and are very painful. The surgery usually takes about 3 hours. Recovery takes weeks.
Vasectomy recovery took 2 days of rest, with a bag of frozen peas, and then I was 100% in about six days.
A vasectomy is rarely done in a hospital. It is just done in a clinic, or the doctor’s office.
I was 21, and never had children, so 20 years later I think having a vasectomy was the best thing I ever did.
