Alternatives to Vasectomy?

Boss аѕkеԁ:

Mу husband аnԁ I аrе both currently іn thе mindset thаt wе feel Ɩіkе wе wіƖƖ never want children. Hοwеνеr, wе аrе very young ѕο οf course, wе mау change ουr minds. I аm currently οn birth control bυt strongly wish tο discontinue υѕе, аѕ іt causes quite unpleasant side effects.

Wе want tο bе responsible аbουt hοw wе ɡο аbουt thіѕ ѕο wе want tο explore ουr options fοr reliable birth control. Mу husband strongly wаntѕ a vasectomy- whіƖе thеу аrе commonly reversed, thеу аrе supposed tο bе considered tο bе permanent.

Othеr thаn аn IUD, methods thаt involve hormones аnԁ condoms, whаt options ԁο wе hаνе fοr birth control? Iѕ thеrе a way tο ԁеfіnіtеƖу determine mу οwn level οf fertility οr аt Ɩеаѕt determine whether I аm fertile?

You can probably have a test at your doctor’s office to determine fertility. But as far as the normal forms of birth control, you are very limited to what you can do. It’s probably going to get down to the point of picking something that is the lesser of the evils.

I think the Vasectomy is probably the best way to go in the long run. And plus, he wants to do it! Just freeze some of his sperm in case you later decide you want to have kids.

I think they are going to consider your age up front and how many kids if any that you already have. There are some other options, you two could just not have sex at all(does not help the relationship any)stay with what you have been doing as in the condom, go with(not recommended)the back door. Get tested to find out if your both capable of having kids. Help him get a few samples and put them in a storage(check on the cost of that)so later on when you decide you are ready older, job security, financial secure, then make a withdrawal an be come pregnant. he could go ahead with the vasectomy, they are consider reversible but they are not or last I heard 100% revesarable. the ball is in your court.

My wife had the same bad side effects , and so at age 26 had a vasectomy,, and have never regretted it. I might add, I had to go to a second doctor to get it done because the first one thought I was to young,,,,Oh and that has been 38 years ago and it cost a hole 60 dollars at that time.

I never wanted children and still don’t at 41. There is nothing to regret about not having children.

The rumors that people regret not having children are just that, rumors. These rumors are started by people with children, or people that could not have children for some other reason. The “Child-Free” (people that can have children, but don’t want to) never have regrets.

I had a vasectomy when I was 21. I had to go to three doctors because the first two felt I was too young. My girlfriend had her tubes tied at 25, with no questions asked. My college room-mate had his vasectomy at 25 with no questions asked.

Unfortunately there are no truly reliable birth control methods other than surgery or IUD.
